Author Guidelines

Submission of Manuscript

The language of the journal is English. Papers should deal with original research not previously published or being considered for publication elsewhere. The minimum requirements for a manuscript to qualify for peer review are that it has been prepared by strictly following the format and style of the journal and that it is written in good English. Authors who have difficulty with English should obtain the assistance of colleagues more proficient in English language for writing the manuscript. Manuscripts that have not fulfilled these requirements will be returned to the author(s). All author(s) must register prior and then submitte their manuscript to the: http://ijb.nigeb.ac.ir

Types of Articles

Articles will be published in the following categories:

 1- Research Papers: A full paper must be subdivided into seven sections, Abstract, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion  and Conclusion (Please note that Results ans Discussion section must be separated), Acknowledgment and References. For sample click here...

2- Short Communications: Short scientific notes, such as useful methods with special application in biotechnology, or brief extensions of previously published work may be submitted for publication as short communications. These should not exceed 6 typed pages with a short abstract of 100 words. The text should be continuous and not be subdivided in different sections as the regular article. For sample click here...

3- Reviews and Mini-Reviews: Reviews of Biotechnology that organize and summarize a research literature relevant to the aforementioned topics can be accepted. Mini Reviews will generally be about 8-10 typed pages. A full review including Tables and Figures is limited to 25 typed pages. All the Review articles are subject to peer-review. Ethics

Manuscripts that contain the results of human and/or animal studies should contain a statement that the study has been carried out with ethical committee approval.

 

Manuscript Organization

Manuscripts should be written in English and should be clearly typed (font size 11 points, Times New Roman) on one side of A4 paper and single-spaced throughout with at least 2.5 cm margins. All the pages should be consecutively numbered.

Title page: In addition to a brief, descriptive, concise title of the article, the full name of the author(s), academic or professional affiliation and addresses should be included on the title page. The name and complete address including Telephone number, Fax number and E-mail address of the person to whom all correspondence to be send must be given.

Abstract and Keywords: The second page should carry an abstract (of no more than 250 words). Abstract is a concise summary of the whole paper. The abstract should briefly state the objective and approach giving the summary of results and conclusions drawn. The list of 3-6 keywords must be given in this page.

Main Text

Headings: The manuscript should be divided in Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgments, References, Tables, Figures and Figures Legend.

Tables:Tables should be typed double-spaced on a separate sheet and numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals. All tables should be keyed in to the text. A short descriptive heading should be given above each table and any footnotes and explanations underneath.

Figures: Must be numbered and keyed into the text. Figures must be submitted in a form suitable for reproduction. Glossy black- and white-photographic prints must be supplied for all illustrations. Laser prints or very high quality photocopies of line drawing are also acceptable. Each figure should be identified on the reverse by its number and the name of the first author. An indication of the top of the figure should be given. Color figures can be accepted. All figures should be bright and clear. Please note that dark colors against a dark background do not reproduce well. Figures should be supplied with legends on a separate sheet. Each Figure or illustration should separately be prepared in Adobe Photoshop program with a resolution of 300 dpi. Don’t embed pictures in the text. Each graph or table should separately be prepared in Microsoft Excel program.

References: All publications cited in the text should be presented in the list of references. In the text refer to the author’s name and year of publication for example (Peters, 1985). If reference is made in the text to a publication by three or more authors, the abbreviation et al. should be used. All names should be given in the list of references. The list of references should be arranged alphabetically by author’s surname(s). References must consist of names and initials of all authors, year, title of paper referred to, abbreviated title of periodicals (in italic), volume number, and first and last page numbers. Proofs: A set of proofs will be send to the author(s) for proof reading. Authors are asked to check proofs very carefully at this stage and not to make major changes in the text.

Reprints: Ten reprints will be supplied free of charge. Additional reprints can be ordered on the reprint order form included with the proofs.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The authorship statment form has been downloaded, completed and signed by all the contributing authors and a scanned version of it (in GIF, PNG, JPEG or PDF format) will be submitted as a supplementary file later during this submission process.
  3. The submission file is in Microsoft Word document file format.
  4. When available, the URLs to access references online are provided, including those for open access versions of the reference. The URLs are ready to click (e.g., http://pkp.sfu.ca).
  5. The text is single-spaced; uses a 11-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  6. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  7. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review) have been followed.
 

Copyright Notice

Upon acceptance of an article by the journal, the author(s) will be asked to transfer the copy right of the article to the publisher on behalf of any and all co-authors, and must warrant that they are aware of and in agreement with all the contents of the article and consent to their names appearing on it
